Design process steps

1) Background research – look at existing products
2) Market research
3) Generate initial ideas – spider diagram
4) Evaluate and get feedback
5) Choose best 3 designs and improve from feedback
6) Create prototypes
7) Evaluate and get feedback
8) Improve
9) Evaluate and get feedback
10) Repeat stages 8 and 9 until both you and the client is happy with design and that it does
what is intended and will be liked by the target audience

To me the design process is all about trial and error and therefore improvement until you reach the outcome you want.

stop motion

i have loved doin the stop motion pics specially since i got to spend the day in the park meeting weird people whilst doing so. i have spent more time working on the stop motion work on my day off when my group all met up then the whole 2 weeks, very proud of us :) cant wait til tues when we start finalising our editing as it will make it look better with all the enhancements added. specially the flower section where all is goin to be in greyscale except for the petals which weill remain the bright pink they originally were, im thinking it wil look very effective. today in my tutorial looked at some other work and one other group had concentrated on perspective looking at making objects appear and dissapear which wasinteresting although the theme seemed mainly to be about eating which was slightly worrying. and another had a story to it which worked well although ours which is more random witout a story also works well it did give the piece more structure. i also liked the effects as they use a CCTV effect and worked on zooming in and out which gave the film something a little different. next step is finding a track to accompany the film by thurs so i best be off to start looking.

Today when i was walking home from town i was thinking about the quote given to us yesterday about change and opportunity well i realised that quote is basically our course as if things didnt change in the way of technology and it never came about then neither would our course and we would never had the opportunity to take the course or the opportunity of progressing into the carreer we want to in the future.

first lecture

well just got home from my first lecture and i have learnt not to be late altho doing a little dance does sound fun to be engaged with the course to look for opportunities and to make and learn from mistakes. 1 down millions to go!

Pin hole camera attempt 1!!

Ok so this was my first attempt at pin hole photography and to be honest its not that bad of a picture from a tiny hole in a beer can! i love the distorted view and how the whole picture is stretched out giving it a somewhat eery effect. However i think it safe to say i may have over exposed it a little as the detail has been lost which is a shame as it is difficult to make out the gravestones which were actually what i was trying to get a picture of. However u can clearly see the tress and the seperation between the path and grass so all is not lost. Next time all i need to do is expose the paper to light a few seconds less and i shld achieve a better result. It may also have been caused by leaving it in the developing liquid too long as i had difficulties getting it out! I reckon with a bit of practice i could achieve some better outcomes and i have kept my beer can in order to do so, so fingers crossed for some better pictures in the future :)

Induction Week

ok guys this posting is gonna take me some getting used to as im much better suited to the old face book! Uni life is great freshers has been immense so much going on so many new people to meet but looks like im comming down with a bit of freshers flu :( Right back to the actual induction task what do i want from the course other than to pass well i would say i want to learn new things and have new experiences that will help to shape me and my career path. I want to meet new people who can broaden what i am able to do and help them in any way that i can. I am especially looking forward to the web design element as this is something i am really interested in taking further, and last of all i want to progress from the course into a up-to-date ever changing job that hopefully will never be boring. Next question what have i done in the first week? well firstly i have met some really great people (block3 norton court all the way) and already made some rele solid friendships which is good as i came here knowing no-one and it was pretty scary at first! i have also not had more than 4 hours sleep a night which im not complaning about as i have danced the night away whilst being dressed up in a theme for each night. I have also spent a few more days in induction then i thought i was going to but i really enjoyed the tasks jsut not so much the early mornings! well for my first blog entry i think i have gone on enough so maybe im getting the hang of this a little quicker than i thought i would do.
